How far do you go?

I guess you could say I am a bit into gadgets, kinda like how Megan is a bit into shopping for nice stuff.  I have been wanting to get a handheld GPS for a few years now, so after we ordered the blokart, I finally decided to get one.  Since it's main duties would be to track my max speed on the blokart,  I was looking for a cheap, quick, & simple to use handheld GPS that I could take out on the boat, blokart, or where ever I wanted to go.  Introducing the Garmin Foretrex 101.  Cheaper than a pair of shoes on sale from Lusso... and willing to tell you how far you walked, barefoot of course.  ;-)

So after playing around with it on the porch last night, this morning I wanted to get some idea of my daily commute details.  So I strapped the unit to the handle bars of teh Silver Bullet and set out.  From Star Cottage to work my moving average speed was 12.3kts, with a max speed of 26kts.  In total I travelled 2.00nm in 9mins 44secs.  :-)

Helping on the weekend

We have had a great weekend here - many activities packed into the two-day work reprieve!

Saturday we woke up early - which was a bit interesting after the evening before we had Doug, Jesse, D’Arcey, Roger, & Rachel over to make kites.  In preparation for Good Friday this week where everyone flies a kite, we had a bit of a kite production line on our living room floor.  Good dinner accompanied the kites with some drinks as well.  All the kites look good - we shall see if they all fly though!

So as I was saying Saturday morning we had an early start - heading to Aberfeldy to attend the Landscaping & Planning seminar they put on.  We could not stay the whole time as Seba was getting cranky, but we did pick up a few ideas for our impending landscaping project once the house is finished.  Then I went off to go sailing for the day on Privateer.  It was a good 18-22knots so the three new people on board had a baptism by fire - we ended up with a 2-2-2, and won the day - and the series!  So now, I guess we have to go to the prize giving... :)

Meanwhile - Megan & Seba went shopping and prepared for his first birthday party that is less than a month away.  We met back at the club for drinks.  Then rented some movies and went home for a quite night.

Sunday was another early start - cycling to the Warwick playground right after breakfast.  Then we went on a cross-country tour delivering birthday invitations!  Back at the house we had lunch and then Seba and I went to Grandpa & Granny's to use their chop saw.  We are making a blackboard, and the edges needed work.  While there, Grandpa was working on fixing the freezer room door and Seba was a great help watching.

We then had Granny & Grandpa around for Sunday night dinner.  All in all a good jam-packed weekend.  Cannot wait for Grama J to visit on Wednesday for Easter weekend.  If this weekend was any sign, next weekend will be even busier!

Canadian Peeps

Ontario: 93
Newfoundland: 12
Quebec: 3
Alberta: 3
Saskatchewan: 1

"This image shows the total amount of visits for the country of Canada. A visit occurs when someone comes to a site, regardless of whether they request one, ten, or a hundred pages. This image breaks down the visit by the province they were called from in Canada."

Since we have a mainly Canadian audience, Seba and I thought we should snoop a bit to see where the Canadian love was originating from since the beginning of 2006.  Not surprising to see that Ontario is leading the "province race" since there is a bunch of family residing there who check the site religiously.  Nevertheless, 12 visits from Newfoundland since January 1st?  Seba was sad to see the poor showing from Alberta... shame on you Auntie Ryan!  :-)

Busy Sunday

Well it ended up being a busy Sunday here at Star Cottage.  Since Daddy returned from weekend camp early (aka Saturday night) we were able to spend time together as family today.  Boy did we pack it in!

First off was a trip to the Warwick Longbay playground.  It was wicked - lots of cool playground stuff.  There was a choo-choo train, slides, swings, benches, and lots and lots of sand! He liked the slide so much he tried to climb up it :)

Then we went over to Mahogany Reef to check out the progress.  It is coming along, although there was no one working at the time.

After that we went home and got ready to go to the RBYC for brunch.  The Harvard Krokodiloes were in town.  A male a capella singing group.  Sebastian was mesmorized when ever they sung a song.  Then he starting bopping his head and bouncing up and down. After a while he started wanting to sing along, so we had to take him out into the hall.

After lunch we went home and had a nap - because everyone needed one.  Once we woke up we headed to Uncle Jesse's for a swim at the beach and some take-out Indian.

What a day - lots of photos in the April gallery.

Magic Box

Seba has discovered the TV remote.  At first he just liked eating it, or taking it on safari around the house.  But recently he has found the green button on the top corner and has figured out what it does.  I guess since he figured out how to play his own CD's on his boombox, finding the remote and watching TV was not far behind.  Thus he is now entrigued with the TV; shown here watching some Baby Einstein...  I say if you can't feel the static electricity tickling your nose, you're not close enough... :)

(For all you child therapists out there reading this, he actually doesn't watch TV much at all... trust me.  He is curious about how those people are moving around in that grey box though.)

Girls, Girls Girls...

While I have been away (and even when I came back) it seems that Sebastian has had lots of girlfriends hanging around.  First it is the "Flower Patch" photo shoot.  Then it is the Lindo's to Lindo's Walk.  And finally he was riding around with an older girl on a dirtbike this past weekend...  Way to go Seba!  You can check out all these photos in the March Photo Gallery page.

What a waste of time & money

So I am back from my trip to Jamaica.  Won't bore you with all the details, but basically the only training I got was how to work on my tan, and drink Red Stripe...  What a waste of taxpayers money.
